GRADUAN Committee and GRADUAN Alliance’s members were back to Bintulu, Sarawak to celebrate the Gawai festival. It was also joined by youth leaders of China, and the delegation has visited a number of long houses together with Bintulu’s Member of Parliament cum Honorary Advisor, YB Dato’ Seri Tiong King Sing.
Through the visit, we can understand living condition of the locals better and experience the uniqueness of Sarawak cultural diversity. We also visited the long house where GRADUAN organised the National Inter Varsity Camp in 2018 and felt glad to see how the mini library has impacted the community throughout the year. Our Inai and Apai also wish for more frequent visits to be organised in future to keep the strong bond among us.
@ Bintulu
【Hari Gawai Culture Trip】
This June, East Malaysia is immersed in the joy of harvest season. We would like to thank 马来西亚大专青年协会 – GRADUAN for inviting us to participate in the culture trip to Bintulu, Sarawak and celebrate this annual Harvest Festival with the local residents there.
In this trip, we had the golden opportunity to visit and give our blessings to our adopted parents in the GRADUAN National Inter-Varsity Cultural Camp 4.0 last year. While celebrating the Harvest Festival, we saw the beauty of different ethnic groups in Malaysia.
This culture trip allowed us to understand the local cultures in depth and experience the culture of Bintulu especially during the Harvest Festival. We gained a deep insight on the traditional cultures and ways of living of the local residents thus fostered the relationship between different ethnic groups in Malaysia. This experience is definitely worth it, it gives us a valuable cultural lesson!
